Sports competitions and scavenger hunts go on all day: June 24, at John Ball Park Zoo in Grand Rapids, MI. Action starts at 9am – ends at 3pm. Spectators FREE.
Display your court dominance in a fierce 3-on-3 basketball tournament or flex your muscles in a ferocious 7-on-7 flag football game. If you like mental challenges, you can choose to join a zoo-themed scavenger hunt.
If you’d rather just watch, stop by to see the action on Sat., June 24, John Ball Park Zoo, 9am – 3pm. There’s no charge to spend a day in the park cheering on sports teams or visiting Community Expo booths – just a small fee to enter basketball, football games or scavenger hunts.
This second annual Battle of the Gains ‘Event with a Cause’ features a state-of-the-art outdoor Community Expo of businesses, health service organizations, social agencies and faith groups.
Dozens of local providers will bring handouts and useful information to pass out to the public. Sam’s Club is donating free food. Up to 50 other businesses will put their products and services on display. Many of them plan to bring promotional giveaways, so if you’re lucky, you’ll get a tote bag to gather your loot!
One of the Expo booths will feature Transplant Games Ambassador Julia Evans, a 16-year-old from Novi, Michigan. She’ll be there to answer questions about athletes with organ transplants. Julia had a heart transplant just a few days after birth. As a teen, she is healthy enough to compete in national and international events in basketball, volleyball and several more sports.
As all other Gains events, this year’s West Michigan fun day promotes physical, mental and spiritual health, along with community comradery. Proceeds will be shared with Gains’ 2017 partner and beneficiary: The Donate Life Transplant Games of America.
Change your life. Change your community. Change Your World.
